JW Marriot Istanbul Bosphorus
JW Marriot Bosphorus is perfectly situated in the privileged area of eclectic Karaköy. The staff are amazing here and I was thrilled to get upgraded to a beautiful suite with a terrace that offers uninterrupted views of the Bosphorus Sea and Blue Mosque. The elegant lobby greets you with a baby white grand piano, which gets played every evening for an hour.
The Hotel in my opinion is the best location in Istanbul being situated adjacent to the new Galataport Shopping center and a stones throw to the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and Topkapi Palace. Its Bohemian surroundings include chic café’s, restaurants & cocktail bars, either along the port or directly behind the hotel where all the lively action is.
The Ferry terminal is a 5 minute walk to Galata Bridge if you decide to visit the Asia side for the day and you can easily walk to any of the major tourist sites in 10-30 minutes. The only problem you will encounter with this location is deciding which restaurant to dine in.
My suite was luxuriously dressed up and I was very blessed to have a balcony with a view. There is nothing like getting an upgrade when you are staying 8 nights, so my room was the icing on the cake.
The concierge added a lovely touch by bringing me some organic soap (wrapped up in ribbon) on a decorated trolley. The soap is made locally and smelled amazing.
The breakfast buffet is fit for Royalty and they will accommodate anything your heart desires and is served in the elegant Galata Lounge that offers a spectacular sunrise. My favorite was the tea lounge with its cozy decor and fireplace – if you wanted to chill with a turkish tea or coffee while reading a magazine.
Even if you don’t stay at this hotel, plan to visit one of my favorite rooftop lounges Sky Karaköy and experience uninterrupted views of the Bosphorus.
This hotel – where history and romance meet, is one of the most special places I had the luxury to stay in. Thank you JWB Istanbul for a blissful stay.
