Montréal Cozy Café's

Montréal is world renowned for being one of the world’s top gastronomic destinations with some swanky wine bistro’s and cozy café’s.  During my four day stay, I wanted to share my top 6 café’s where you can find some of the best coffee, croissants, vegan desserts and crepes.

Le Petit Dep can be found in the charming area of Vieux Montréal, or “Old Montreal” in English.  The café has everything from sandwiches, salads, and croissants, and they have a wide variety of local items such as home made jams and organic maple syrup.  Sit at the vintage lit up bar and watch Montréal in action while you sip on what I thought was one of the best coffee’s I have tasted in awhile.

Mandy’s can be found in the trendy shopping district of Laurier West in Montréal, and is a combination of a women’s clothing shop and bistro.   They have a charming patio where you can relax in while you indulge in one of their delicious salads.   I had their vegan feta salad, and the portion size is large enough for two, so I took the rest to my hotel, as it was too delicious to leave behind.  I would rate Mandy’s as the best place to grab a salad.

Olive and Gourmando was my absolute favorite place to grab lunch, that I actually came here twice.  Its in the Old Montréal area on the very famous rue Saint-Paul.  It’s super cool vibe offers a rustic space surrounded by artisanal breads, sweets, organic salads, soups and friendly staff that offer the best recommendations.

I absolutely loved their vegan dill potato salad with a grilled baguette. Their food was so delicious that I ended up buying their cookbook in search of some of their inventive fare.  I found the recipe for the unique potato salad which I will share later.  This café doesn’t disappoint because the owners are 2 very famous chefs amongst the very competitive restaurant scene in Montréal.

The best Vegan Café’s were Boutique Vegania and Café Tuyo.  Boutique Vegania just opened in Old Montréal by a well known pastry chef – Justine Dewyse who worked at the famous Chateau Frotenac. Her vegan white chocolate desert with strawberries, melted in your mouth and her café offers a wide variety of vegan desserts to suit everyones palate.

Best Croissant hands down was Patisserie Madelaine and reminded me of my days I lived in France.

Best Crêpes and Fondue were Chez Suzette in Old Montréal.  Its a lovely breakfast spot if you have kids, and the fondue is always an intimate way to share a meal with a group of friends or a fun date night.
