Seven Hills Palace

I have been to Istanbul for work in 2014 but did not have nearly enough time to explore this exotic city, so I’m excited to have time to experience the food, history and culture.  I chose to stay for a couple of nights at the Seven Hills Palace Hotel which is located in the Sultanahmet District.

There are 5 great areas to stay in Istanbul, depending on your preference. The Asia side – you need to take a ferry,  the Sultanahmet district –  where all the attractions are, Karaköy – which is on the port next to Galata Tower, Besiktas – which is famous for its vibrant nightlife and colourful neighborhood, and Beyoglu – which is located near Taksim square and Istanbul’s busy Istiklal Street.

Seven Hills Palace is a charming boutique hotel located along the Bosphorus with breathtaking views, an outdoor pool and spa, and Victorian style rooms with Chandeliers.

Seven Hills Palace entrance way greets you with an elegant white antique electric carriage nestled on the cobblestone street, along with a pretty courtyard surrounded by flowers and friendly staff.  Go for an upgrade and ask for a room that overlooks the pool, as they have a bit of a sea view and balcony. Also, make sure you luxuriate for a few tranquil moments in their traditional Turkish Haman Spa or spoil yourself with the VIP aromatherapy massage and sauna.  This gets your body moving for the next day!

On my first night at Seven Hills Palace, I had dinner on this charming terrace with elegant music echoing in the wind.  The food is outstanding and I highly recommend the seafood dishes and the muhamarra (roasted red pepper dish with walnuts). It was the best I have tasted in Istanbul. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with everything from the usual eggs, meat and hash browns, fresh pastries, cold plates of cheeses and dolma, fruits, salads,  yogurt and waffles.  What really stood out was the fantastic staff who go above and beyond to make sure your stay is special.

I had a sweet surprise with. a knock on my door at 5pm where they served me a complimentary turkish coffee, glass of water and a yummy yogurt almond turkish delight. It is always those unexpected special gestures that make your stay that much more enjoyable.

Seven Hills Palace prime location is within a mere stroll of all the unmissable attractions including the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and more. If you decide to stay somewhere else, then make sure you come and enjoy dinner on the terrace and watch the majestic panoramic sunset overlooking the Bosphorus Sea.

Thank you Seven Hills Palace for the most delightful stay. Until we meet again.
